Dear Bob Seger
I love you!!!! I just had to tell you. I am sure you have heard this one a million times before. But I must tell you why.
I love you!!!! I just had to tell you. I am sure you have heard this one a million times before. But I must tell you why.
1. I grew up with you. I can still see the Live Bullet Album cover and the big console stereo my Dad played you on. I had the exact place memorized as to where Turn the Page was on the record. This was what I believe to be my Dad’s favorite song of yours. What you don’t know is that it was played at his funeral. PS I think this is one of THE BEST albums EVER!
1. You were my first concert that I was allowed to go to with a date. My date camped out over night at Market Square Arena to get tickets. The Like a Rock tour I will never forget it. I have to be honest that my date is now living in Michigan and has gotten to meet you. I am so jealous!!! He works with the Auburn Hills Police Dept and got to provide security for you. He said you were absolutely one of the nicest people has met. I am even more jealous!!!!
3. You have picked out the best group of musicians for your band. I love to listen to just them when you allow them to play with you singing. The sax player Alto Reed all I can say is WOW! Thanks for the sax in your music! Thanks for choosing all of them because they really rock!
4. When my husband got sent to Afghanistan with the Special Forces from Ft Bragg after 9/11 I was not too thrilled. I was scared for him. He was an infantry soldier after all. To keep me busy I wrote to you asking for a favor. I was sending him mail and I wanted people from home to write him, to show him the support he had back in the states. I though how cool would it be to send him support from one his favorite entertainers. You were so kind to send an autographed photo that you signed to him with a few words of support. You did not have to do that favor for me, after all you don’t even know me, but you did and I am so grateful to you for that. He loved it by the way!
5. Thank you for the music over the years. It is simply the best. It is truly the sound track of my life. You seem to mange to put into words the lives, feeling and the situations that we all go through. What you write stands the test of time. Against the Wind another one of my Dad’s favorites seemed to say what a lot of his life was about. When he passed away in 2007 I chose that song as well for his funeral.
It was so him. To this day when I hear that song it brings a tear to me and makes me happy all at the same time because I know that it was my dad who gave me good taste in music. It was he who introduced me to you.
The year he passed it was ironic because Face the Promise was released and it was like you lived my life when you wrote the song A Long Good Bye.
You Bob Seger have been with me in the best and the worst times of my life. Your music like a best friend that never goes way, but it stays with me bringing joy and to comfort me. Thank you for sticking to your dream of music. I really appreciate it.
