Mike (aka the hubby) and I have a tendency to take day drives. Lately we have been driving to historical places. The reason mainly is that they are normally inexpensive. On this day it was Fort Scott Kansas. What we found was fun. Down town on main street is like the scene from a movie complete with music from the 1940's piped outside as you walk. The shops are that of gift stores and antiques and friendly people. Main street dead ends and there you have Fort Scott. It is worth the time. The nice thing about the Federal Parks Dept. now is that they have an audio tour through the cell phone. You call the phone number and press the number of the building . I loved it! I found that Kansas had a tourism website that is fun. I never thought about touring Kansas but on a whim it was close and it was nice. I recommend traveling the Frontier Military Scenic Byway’s . Kansas has set up their website to pick routes and an itinerary of things to do along the way. I have posted the Kansas web link have fun.
