Well it is at the end of the year where I am now taking stock into what I have learned from both good and bad. I have to say that I am excited about the upcoming year. I have started it off little early thanks to the Blogging for Books website that I review for. You see they had a book available that spoke to me even when I did not want to be spoken to. The book is THE 60 MINUTE MONEY WORK OUT by Ellie Kay. This book was to be honest hard for me to read not because of the author Ellie Kay's writing but because of the subject. Now, I hate to admit this so here it goes “I am so not good with finance or the discipline that comes with it”. I found the book to be a little inspiring, after all this was a military family trying to work away the debt that they had. If anyone does not know about the military it does not pay very much, don’t get me wrong it is a great job for some that likes a physical challenge, leading platoons, walking in history and making history. I should know I married one of these men. So if a military family can do it then I am in. Ellie gives you a goal, the first and most important goal is STAY POSITIVE. She then takes you through a work out of sorts one that requires you to dedicate 60 minutes a week. She has rules for the 60 minutes sessions if there is more than one person working together on the same debt ,one of her rules ( see pages 10 & 11 in the book ) is no name calling. I know it seems funny to me, but what it is she is writing about is respect and even queen of soul has been singing about this for years, everyone wants it. There are quizzes in the book to help you know what your financial dreams are. I love in this age of thriftiness (as a military wife I have got this one down) she has a chapter to help you save money for instance, garage sales, coupons and price matching. There is even a chapter about working at home to bring in extra money. The book is a short book only 206 pages. I gave my husband the book to read and he liked it to. He has read a few books on this subject and he felt that this book is an outline of what to do. He said “most books of this subject say the same stuff if you get down to the meat and potatoes of it” however he felt that in comparison to others he has read Ellie's” does a great job with the how to emotionally deal with the process of getting your finances under control and keeping it that way. “
Over all I found this book to inspire me and I give it 3 and half stars. This book was generously provided by Waterbrook Press in exchange for a review. I was under no obligation to post a positive review of this book. The opinions in this review are mine only.
