The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins I have to say I was not interested in this story when I went to the movies and saw the trailer of it.  I must say I was concerned because I do not like violent movies so I was not sure about it as it was based on a game that resulted in the deaths of children.   It was not long until my step daughter said you should read this it is really good. I said ok and forgot then a few weeks later the librarian mentioned I should get on the waiting list for this book as she read it and it was really good.  So I did just that and this was all before the movies were released. Several months went by and them my step son said I can’t believe I read this young adult book but I did and it was great. It was so great I am now on book two and I stared it three days ago. So I thought to myself maybe I do need to read it.  The day finally came and after several months and the movie released I found the hot little black book in my hands. I started reading this book when I was reading another book (that book was put on immediate hold) and I could not put this one down. I finally after 127 pages thought really I can’t believe this book is a young adult book. I was blown away by it. I laughed when I even saw Anderson Cooper saying he was really into the book and could not believe it was a young adult book either. I then saw the book on his must read list. This is definitely on my must read book list.  I realize that I am a little behind the curve on this book and A LOT of you have read this series. I have to say this if you are a parent (who has not read this) grab your child’s copy and read it! You won’t be sorry and it will give you something in common with your young adult. If and adult that thinks young adult books are too immature for you READ THIS ONE it is not. The book is about a futuristic world with 12 districts where children ages 12-18 are chosen to play a game and fight to the death. I am normally a romance type of reader but I loved this. The violence in the book was not as bad as what you see on TV but there is violence in this book for those who hate it.  This book totally caught me by surprise because it is more science fiction and I am a romance reader. I am glad I opened my world up to this book it was fantastic. I give it the best rating a 5 star rating. The only issue I had with this book is the ending. It is not that it’s bad, but it did not end the way I wanted it to.
